Debra Rountree
Lay Church Musician & Volunteer

Debra and her husband Mark are members of Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas.
Debra spent the first half of her childhood in Abilene, TX. FBC Abilene is a place dear to Debra, because that’s where she first met Jesus in a personal way and developed a love for church music from children’s choirs and through piano.
But Waco is also near and dear to Debra. She spent junior high, high school and college in Waco and her parents still live in her childhood home in Woodway. Her love of Jesus and church music grew under the direction of wonderful spiritual and musical mentors, including her parents (Ann and Duane Lindsay) and long-time music minister, Ed Wittner, at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church where Debra participated in all things musical—youth choir, youth ensembles, handbells.
Debra graduated from Baylor in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science Education in Speech Pathology, but started at Baylor as music education major. At Baylor, Debra sang in Concert Choir and in a group called “New Song” that performed concerts in churches around the state. After Baylor, she obtained a Masters in Communication Disorders from the University of TX at Dallas and practiced medical speech pathology professionally until her children were born, and for the past 27 years she has had the privilege to practice the hardest but (at times!) most rewarding job of “family manager” at home with their two now-grown children while being a very active community and church volunteer.
Debra and Mark lived in Washington, DC in the mid-90s but returned to Texas and were involved at Valley Ranch Baptist Church in Coppell and again at Park Cities where they worship now.
Debra and Mark give what spare time they do have to Baylor. Mark is in his 7th year serving on the Baylor Board of Regents and he’s in his 3rdyear as chairman of that Board. And in addition to CCMS, Debra is currently also serving on the Board of Advocates for the Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences at Baylor.
