Student Travel Awards
Overview
The Graduate School and Dunn Center for Christian Music Studies seek to offer graduate students studying church music the opportunity to travel and present research globally. Students are encouraged to submit posters, papers, and articles for review and acceptance to present at events throughout the academic year. The Center will provide financial support for to eligible students on a case-by-case basis. Available funding opportunities are included below.
After applying for awards from the Graduate School (where permissible), submit an online application to the Dunn Center for review. Church Music faculty will review requests twice per month.

Qualifying Travel Opportunities
A. Travel to Professional Meetings (Graduate Students)
This program is designed to support the presentation of findings of graduate-student research, artistic performance, etc.
B. Travel to Conference (Undergraduate/Graduate Students)
The Dunn Center encourages students to explore opportunities for further their training and building networks with church musicians across the country. To this end, the Dunn Center will accept applications for students interested in attending music and worship conference, symposia, etc. to further enrich his/her studies.
*Unlike funding from the Graduate School, the Dunn Center will consider support for attendance at meetings without the presentation of scholarship.
C. Travel to Support Master’s Thesis Research
This award is designed to support travel for master’s student research directly related to the completion of a candidate's thesis. The student's thesis proposal must be formally approved by the program at the time of application. There is no matching or related support available from the Graduate School. A master’s student is eligible for one such award during her/his master’s studies at Baylor University.
D. Travel to Support Doctoral Dissertation Research
Like the Graduate School, this award is designed to support travel for doctoral research directly related to the completion of a candidate's dissertation. The student's dissertation proposal must be formally approved by the program at the time of application. Please ensure that you have submitted a request to the Graduate School prior to completing the Dunn Center application. A doctoral student is eligible for one such award during her/his doctoral studies at Baylor University.
All applications must be accompanied by a one-page explanation for travel request along with key observations and research planned during visit. For those attending a conference, a list of anticipated sessions and or presentations should be included.
