The Baylor University School of Music is pleased to announce two faculty opportunities within its nationally recognized Church Music program. Assistant/Associate Professor of Church Music and Director, Dunn Center for Christian Music Studies
Tenure-Track Position
Appointment Date: July 1, 2027
The School of Music seeks an accomplished scholar, educator, and leader to serve as the next Director of the Dunn Center for Christian Music Studies while also joining the Church Music faculty as an Assistant or Associate Professor.
This individual will provide strategic leadership for the Dunn Center's programs, research initiatives, public engagement efforts, partnerships, staff, and resources. The position offers an opportunity to shape the future of Christian music studies at Baylor through scholarly contribution, institutional leadership, and collaboration with churches, professional organizations, donors, alumni, and academic partners.
In addition to directing the Center, the successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate Church Music and Worship courses, supervise graduate research, and maintain a visible scholarly and professional presence consistent with Baylor's mission as a Christian research university.
Assistant Teaching Professor of Church Music
Full-Time, Non-Tenure Track Position
Appointment Date: August 15, 2027
The School of Music also seeks an engaging church musician and educator to join the Church Music faculty as a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor.
This position focuses on student formation through teaching, mentoring, and practical ministry preparation. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate Church Music and Worship courses, mentor students pursuing church music and ministry vocations, and contribute to experiential learning opportunities such as internships and ministry placements.
The faculty member will also play an active role in student recruitment, advising, and retention while collaborating with Church Music faculty and Dunn Center staff on educational programs, outreach initiatives, conferences, and partnerships with churches and ministry leaders. Candidates should demonstrate ongoing professional engagement in church music, worship, ministry, or related fields.
