John Woods
B.M. / M.Div / M.M. Graduate

As Music & Worship Pastor for the Dawson Family of Faith, my team and I provide leadership in a variety of areas including music, the arts, and worship. I love seeing the body of Christ come together and share in worship and service as one people. For me, investing in and learning from adults, students, and children is a daily honor that pushes me to follow Christ more fully. My wife Lindsay and I have two young children, and we enjoy watching them play on the front porch of our home in Birmingham, Alabama.
My time at Baylor changed the trajectory of my life forever, giving me an education that has allowed me to say “yes” to God’s leading more often. The musical training I received has allowed me to lead any musical group with confidence and expertise, whether a band, choir, orchestra, or combination of them all. Theologically, I have been grateful for the depth of instruction, offering me a broad understanding and appreciation for many different perspectives, all while rooting me in historic Baptist beliefs.
The friends I made at Baylor have become some of the most important in my life, including the professors who poured into me. Long after the years I spent on campus earning a Bachelor of Music in Church Music, Master of Music in Church Music, and a Master of Divinity in Theology, the relationships formed there have empowered my ministry, supported me in times of challenge, and celebrated with me in moments of victory.
I came to study church music at Baylor because of its strong faculty, excellent resources, and vibrant campus life. I left with a focus and renewed call to ministry, supported by the education and relationships formed there.
