Creating International Partnerships in Music and Ministry

March 30, 2022

In Spring of 2022, Drs. Bradley, Ingalls, and Monteiro traveled to Recife, Brazil, with the purpose of exploring possible partnerships in teaching and research with both the North Brazil Baptist Theological Seminary (STBNB) and the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE). During their visit, they attended various meetings with members of the administration and faculty of both institutions, visited libraries, toured historical sites in Recife and in the colonial city of Olinda, attended services at two local congregations, and gave presentations at the First Church Music Conference of the STBNB, one of the events commemorating the 120th anniversary of that institution, the oldest Baptist Seminary in Latin America. The connections between Baylor and Brazil are centenary and the CCMS continues to look for ways of strengthening those ties and creating new avenues for collaboration. Originally from Recife and a native speaker of Portuguese, Dr. Monteiro is spearheading those initiatives.
